Hubby and I just got back from the surgeon's office. It's not retinal detachment. He goes in for more tests next week and to see a pupil specialist. Eyes are complicated and they don't know what's wrong. They scheduled him back next Thursday and said call if it gets worse. He has been getting worse every day, so I guess we call every day?! I'm really frustrated that they aren't referring him to neuro since they can't figure it out. He's on light duty until it's resolved. ugh!

So, if anybody knows anything about eyes, here are the symptoms:
It started on Thursday and has been getting worse each day. He has flashes of crescent shaped light in his peripheral vision, he has floaters, his vision is blurry around the edges, and this is all in his left eye. It gets worse or more frequent with exhertion and with eye movement. It is only when his eyes are open. He isn't having headaches or any other symptoms or pain.

Tami, I don't know. I too would think a neurosurgeon would be the next best bet to consult, but what do I know? All I can say is, you and your husband especially are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted.

Tami, bless your heart. You've been through enough already! I don't have any advice for you, just wanted to let you know I will pray for you both.

I have always had floaters ever since I was a little girl. I asked about them a few years ago and we talked about retinal detachment.... from what I remember the primary symptom was flashes of light. I don't recall any blurriness though.

Here is a cute story to lift your mood- my grandmother had macular degeneration. She said her eyes hurt her and the doc said that wasn't possible (that always made me mad) anyways... one day she tells me that her eyesight wasn't that good anymore so I asked her how far she could see and she said that when she and grandpa were at a stoplight in the car the people crossing the street looked like the giant dancing raisins on TV. LOLOLOL I told her it was a good thing she didn't drive and then asked her what I looked like :)

I hope you get some answers soon!!!

Positive thoughts are coming your way, Tami. I think you all have had your fair share of "stuff" lately and it's time for a break. Take care.

Sometimes doctors seem so insensitive. My prayers are with both of you. Patty

It seems like, lately, doctors are in no hurry to put patients' minds at ease. Don't they know now everyone worries?
I hope you can be calm while waiting, and I hope and pray that everything will be all right!

Tami, a couple of years ago, I noticed a crescent shaped blur in one eye. I had thought it was a smudge on my glasses all weekend, then on Monday I cleaned my glasses really well and noticed it was still there. I called my eye doctor and he had me come in right away. He then called a retinal specialist who took me immediately (interestingly, they had me drive 15 miles to the other office!). Turns out, I have a cotton wool exudite (a small stroke in my right eye). They did a bunch of tests and decided that it probably came from my moderately high blood pressure. It has mostly healed itself and I rarely notice it any more -- and I am on blood pressure medicine. I DO notice it more when I exert myself -- which is what made me think of your husband. Mention cotton wool exudite (or just cotton wool) to your doctor. Whatever it is, I hope they fix it fast! Tami, my Mom when thru something very similar and it was very scarey for the whole family. Like the rest of us her heart and soul is in her creations, only she is a quilter, not a paper crafter althou my sister and I are working on her. She ended up having some minor out patient work done and was good as new, in fact better I think than before. So continue to keep the faith, and you will be in our prayers.

Thanks everyone. I feel a little more at ease now. I just have to patient and it's hard to do when I feel so helpless. Thanks for the tips. He saw a retina specialist today who has no clue. So, now it's on to a pupil specialist. It's easier to deal with my own health stuff than my hubby's.

You are in my thoughts & prayers. The testing & waiting period can be such a exasperating time.
