For three of the past four or five days I've not been able to sleep because my legs (right one especially) are just achey. The only relief is to get out of bed and cover with a blanket or two. The pressure seems to help. My legs usually get fidgety when I'm tired. That's a sure sign it's time for bed. But this is different. It's driving me crazy. So here I am at 4:00 a.m. watching some really bad late night t.v. I was reading a scary book right before bed and now I'm a little freaked out to be sitting in the living room all by myself. Darn legs.

I'm sorry about your achey legs. I too have had that before, but I just took motrin 800mg and within 15 minutes I was knocked out. Did you walk a lot recently? It only happens to me after I walk a long time during that day, since my body is not used to that sort of mistreatment. I hardly do anything but sleep, eat, and sit. Anyways, try taking some motrin. I hope you feel better in the am. I wonder what it could be!!!

That is a very uncomfortable feeling! Hope you get some relief! The only thing I have heard is that exercise is good for that, I can't remember who, but someone mentioned yoga type stretching and some of the lunge squats that go with that. HTH

I get the fidgety feeling when I need to go to bed. Other than that, I've never had anythign that kept me awake. Wasn't this the "ailment" that people suggested sleeping w/soap under your sheets???

Yes, it is, this has been discussed before and I'm sure soon one of those ladies that have been dealing with it will have some helpful advise! I have been wondering how the soap was helping.

RLS is a pain in the......legs! I've been bothered by it, as has my sister. My sis takes prescription meds for it, but because of my arthritis, I'm already taking enough meds. Once I take the Tramacet at bedtime, I don't worry about the legs. Go see the doc and he'll prescribe something, I'm sure. We need our sleep so we can play during the day, right?

I actually can't believe it, but the darn soap does work. Don't know why, or how, but I won't argue with success! I use a bar of Zest between the fitted bed sheet and the mattress cover. When I start to get a cramp or two, I change out the bar of soap, put a fresh one in the bed and start using the old one in the shower. It really works, at least for me!

I went to 2 "sleep" doctors--they were actually pulmonary specialists--and each of them gave me prescription medicatons--(different ones). None of that helped. I have always gotten fidgety--my mother did, my dd does, and I think my ds (Ellie) does as well. I would get up in the middle of the night in tears and try to squat to stretch my legs, nothing worked. FINALLY, I put a bar of soap under my fitted sheet and now the issue is gone. The doctor told me that it is something wrong with a signal from the neuron in the brain to the leg nerves. Don't know, but the soap works--I think my soap is dove--but what I have decided it does, is interrupt the nerve signal, so the jitters stops. I put it far enough down in the bed so that I can touch it with my calf or ankle--and HEAR ME SNORE!!! Please let me know if it helps you.

Well I have a really bad case of RSL! My Sleep Doctor has tried two different medications and they are not working! So maybe I will give this soap thing a shot!

My grandma had this, but it was before the time there was a name for it... She just had to live with it!

if you go on the internet and look up Dr. Gott, that's the name of the guy who has the articles in my paper all the time--somewhere in there he says it does. BUT, I only had Dove, so I used it, and it works for me. Good Luck.

Definately try the soap. I use Zest but any soap will work. I know it's wierd but it works...you can go online and look it up. There are articles that Drs. have written about it.
