We went through Yellowstone on Friday first time back in about 6 years. We saw lots of wildlife the usual elk, deer, buffalo and this time we actually saw bears. A mama griz w/ two bear cubs about 200 yards off the road. We spotted a few other bears up in the hillside w/ a pair of binoculars, but then we also saw two black bears that the ranger said had been on their own for about 2 weeks now they were just off the side of the road.
Oh and we also saw a buffalo a little too close for comfort as he passed through our picnic area while we were eating.

What a great time! My DH and I were in Yellowstone about 15 years ago, right after the big fire and we saw tons of wild critters -- lots and lots of buffalo, some moose and a Grizzly (you can tell when there is a grizzly cause traffic stops!). Glad you had a great time. I loved it there.

That is so exciting you got to see some bears! When we were in Yellowstone there was no bears. I think the bears are starting to rejuvenate in the area. Hugs, Heather

We did have a good time, like you said Nancy where there is a bear there is traffic. I too remember going through after the fire it was kind of sad, but is recovering well. There are still tons of burned trees throughout the park that serve as a reminder.
