Woah! Is this a normal sight? If it is, I would be afraid to be outside or let my doggie out. BTW, is that a White Birch tree I see? I so miss them. We had them everywhere in New England - they are so pretty.

No, it's not a common site, thank goodness. Our cat is an indoor cat, so no worries there. And, yes, it's a white birch tree. I love the look of birch trees, the way they usually split into three. Sorry you miss them so much.

Oh my gosh! That's a common site? That would make headline news at 5:00 in my town! They would devote the whole newscast to it!
That's a huge bear.
Thanks for sharing the pics!

Thank goodness. I think Zoe would be a nice little snack for him! One of my friends visited Idaho and the people in the town wore bells to warn the bears that they were coming! Well, what if the bear was hungry...he would know where to catch his dinner!

yikes.
so all your bird feeders are empty now right?

( my mom hung hers like 20 feet in the air and the bears will climb the trees to get to the seeds...)

We have deer, foxes, and raccoons in our yards occasionally. Nothin exciting like this though! I'd have my camera out and all over it too! (From the comfort of inside my home of course ;) )

Joanne, this bear is in its natural habitat, right here in our neighbourhood. The lot sizes are large and lots of forest around as well. It's not going to a zoo, I suspect it was on its way back to his lair.

Sherri, that house number sign is our house number and is sitting about 50 feet from my front door!

Wow- I thought things like this only happened in the movies!
Are you scared, Barb? Do they break in and eat all your honey?
I keep thinking of a Disney movie (can't remember the name). Makes our wild snakes look playful!
