That Tim Holtz guy has this techinique, now I know it's not really new, but it's new to me. I can't even explain it so I found a link to the show I saw it on. I think my LSS sells that foam pad stuff so i might have to give it a try!

If anyone gets a chance to take any of his classes...do it! You won't regret it. Anyway, if you use the dye inks make sure you get the FELT pad, not the FOAM pad. The foam pad is for pigment inks. After you are done stamping you can put the pad into a plastic bag and keep it as a personalized stamp pad for that particular stamp.

It's a fun and easy way to stamp without a lot of coloring.

What's a foam pad? Is it like foam core board (like my "D-Fence" lol)?

Does anyone have his DVD? He seems interesting..

It's basically kind of a giant uninked stamp pad. You cut a piece the size of your stamp and stamp the image in permanent black ink. Then you ink the stamped image with your reinkers in whatever colors you want. Then tap the stamp (after you cleaned the permanent ink off) on the "custom" ink pad and stamp on card stock. Your image will already be in color.

HTH.

Thanks, Mary :)

I guess I need to see a better picture of a finished project using this technique. I understand what you're saying, but I don't "get" the look. Why?

Julie, do you see on that snowman on my first link how he pulls the color into the image after, so he inks it so the snowbody is in blue, hat in black, carrot nose orange and so on then just uses a bit of water to pull the color in a bit for a great watercolor look. Now of course you could do this with markers, but the thing that is cool with this is if you are doing bunches of the image you don't have to remarker it. He said you should get 30 images from the one inking of the pad! So you could do all or almost all your Christmas cards with this and just laying down ink once.

I think it's pretty cool, I think I'm gonna give it a try. Not today though... :)
