now. I am not sure if you all remember, but I was involved in a car accident last June and probably should have died or at least been severely injured as also for my ds. But everyday I count my lucky stars and thank god for having 2 angels watch over us.

I think I have finally hit my all time lows now as it is now 7 months post mva and am still feeling a lot of pain. Most soft tissue injuries resolve within 8 weeks, but because I had so many areas of injuries, none of them seem to want to go away. I am feeling so frustrated because no one can do anything for me - I am unable to have manipulative treatments on my neck due to a prolasped disc and I hate taking any kind of pain killers - well last nite I couldn't stand it anymore and had to take one. Today, no change.

I'll spare you guys the details, but I feel so unmotivated to do anything - if it was not for the fact that my boys need to go to school, I probably would not be out of bed. I am so tired of putting on a brave/happy face! But I have to do it for my boys.

It is soo sad that I look forward to going to physiotherapy or to see my family doctor and in fact, I am going to see a neurosurgeon on Monday.

All I want is some answers and they are just not coming fast enough for me.

Thanks for listening.

Pat, you will certainly be in my prayers. Hopefully you'll get some answers when you go to the dr. Monday. Here in the USA we have pain management doctors. Do you have those where you are? They ususally specialize in cases where people are injured in accidents.

Thank you. We have them here, but they are very expensive (ranging $5,000 and upwards) and is not covered under our medical system.

Oh, Pat....I'm so very sorry. Have you spoken with a doctor about your feelings? Not the physical part, but the emotionally draining part? That part of your injury should also be treated. Not just the physical part. Prayers going out to you, my friend. I hope something can be done soon to alleviate your pain, and that you'll be well on your way to full recovery.

Pat, I feel for you. Chronic pain has taken over your life and it's not pretty. While our medical system does not cover pain management doctors, do you or your DH have a health plan at work? If so, check into that as many of them cover things like this.

Was your car accident your fault or was there another vehicle involved, too, and were they at fault. If so, your insurance company may be able to cover the costs of pain mgmt doctors.

Chronic pain changes lives, there's no doubt about it, but it can be managed with help. I hope the neuro guy, and/or your family doctor can sort this out for you.

I am so sorry you are going through this, Pat.
I feel badly that I didn't know about your accident.
I, too, hope your doctor will have some insights into the cause of the pain, and find a way to help you.
What about acupuncture? Is that covered? I never thought I would embrace alternative medicine, but an arm injury a few years ago resulted in bursitis, and acupuncture solved the problem.
Hugs,
Joanie

Thank you guys for listening to me. I tend not to complain as much as I should, but this has made me feel a lot better. It's really funny as I work in this type of field (I do personally injury law work) and it never even struck me to talk to my doctor about my emotions and never even thought that I had chronic pain.

I will keep you guys updated on Monday - I am hoping that the neurosurgeon will expedite my CT scan which is scheduled for May. Hopefully, I'll get in sooner than later.

Thanks again. I love you guys all!

Pat-so sorry your not better after all these months. You may want read up on the prescribed pain medications...generally a dose taken at night will not last into the morning hours (possibly why you woke up when you did) but hopefully it did help you sleep. If indeed it is chronic pain you probably need to continue the medicine or find an alternative pain relief. While many people are wary of getting addicted to pain meds their is a significant research that indicates a high percentage of people naturally get off of it as they can...you might want to see if you can find some of those studies because as others have written here chronic pain can led to a situation where your body is fighting the pain and is then is not able to heal the problems. Yes, yes talk to your doctor and read all you can on pain management. In the meantime sending hugs and prayers your way!....Jan

I am sorry to hear this Pat. Joanie mentioned acupuncture...I think that's a great idea and possibly a chiropractor...one who doesn't use the "Diversified Method". A friend of mine has chronic pain from fibromyalgia and she goes for theraputic massages. It has really helped her to manage the pain. Sure hope you get some relief soon - please keep us posted.

Please know that your shack friends are uplifting you in prayer and believing that you will be healed in every way. We are all here if you need anything at all.
