Prom Night for our high school. It's my Justin's senior year and his last prom.

If you could all please pray (1) for all students driving that they will have a safe journey to and from the prom and party (2) that no drunk drivers will be on the roads (3) that all students will make good "Godly" choices (4) that they will come to our after prom party instead of going to parties where sex, drugs, alcohol or other bad things might be available to them.

My dh and I are chaperoning and working at the after prom party. We will be arriving at the Lancerlot Sports Complex at 9pm; the party starts at midnight and ends at 3:30 a.m. Then we will be staying to clean up.

Here's what the teens and their guests/dates can do at the party:

First Floor: swimming, basketball, racquetball, Dave's Moonwalks is bringing: Giant movie screen with Nintendo Wii, Bouncy Boxing Ring, First-down Bungee Run, 2 slot machines, Competition football throw.

Third Floor: D.J. and music/dancing, Casino Games, "picture taking corner" that is decorated with a background of a beach/sunset. Door prize table: we have passes to Kings Dominion, Wet 'n Wild Emerald Point, Sightseeing Cruises on the Virginia Dare at Smith Mountain Lake, Passes to Thunder Valley Go Carts & Lazer Tag, Passes to Salem Avalanche Baseball and Lynchburg Hillcats Baseball (2 local minor league teams), gift certificates for Dicks Sporting Goods, Gift Certificates to Ruby Tuesday and Red Lobster, Gift Certificates to Wal-Mart, Gift Certificates to Hawaiian Tanning Salon, and many more things including a 46-piece tool set from Capps Building Supply, miscellaneous gifts from Belk, etc. etc.

Third Floor Food: Vitos Pizza all night, 'Lil pigs in a blanket, veggie trays, fruit trays, cookie trays, brownies, large cake (1/2 strawberry & 1/2 orange) that will have our T-shirt design on the top and in big letters "CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2008". Our T-shirt design is attached. Oh and Pepsi is donating soda and water, and we will have coffee too.

This is my 4th year helping with the after prom party and it is so much fun. Please keep all teens and volunteers/chaperones in your prayers. Thanks so much!!! :wubclub:

That sounds like an AWESOME after prom party! Our school does that too, but nothing that great. I think the kids would be dumb NOT to go to your party! They're growing up and how much longer do they get to be "just kids"!

I shall certainly pray to keep everyone safe during this Prom time.
Congratulations on helping to organise such a mammoth event as the after Prom party.

Going to proms is something new here in England.
As you probably know, recentley I bought my grand daughter her first long Prom dress, and I must admit at her final fitting she looked georgeous.
WE are going to see her before she leaves on the 12th of May.
All the kids are taken to a Prom dinner dance by bus..........they dont get to go unless they have good grades and go on the bus. No way can they make their own way there or back:no2:, and for that we are very grateful.
They are chaperoned by parenst and teachers and only soft drinks are allowed.

If you have any pictures afterwards please post them for us to see.

Thank you all.....it's coming together nicely -- knock on wood. Last night I had about 15 volunteers, and we met in the high school library to make 400 gift bags. Each bag has: M&M's, gum, mints, McDonald's cards for a free Big Mac, Cards for .99 pretzel to use at the pretzel place at the mall, cologne sample, flip flop key chain and a bag of chips. Frito Lay donated 400 bags of chips: Doritos, cheetos, etc.

Tonight we are decorating at the Lancerlot Sports Complex.....taking all the pepsi products, the big cake, and refreshment (there's a large walk-in cooler there and an ice machine), we are putting table cloths and centerpieces on all the tables (about 30 of them) and setting out the casino games.

I better sleep in a little bit Saturday morning to gain some energy.

That sounds like a ton of fun - oh, to be young again...

...on second thought, I like me the way I am now.
