I will totally post MORE details when I have them but we have dates!

Mark your calenders ladies:

APRIL 23-24-25-26
Angola, IN

We added one more day this time!!

The weekend we had this year already had a booking for "our" room. I wonder if Dawn beat me to it! LOL

Now REMEMBER: We have room for 30 shackies!

I am also booking the rooms in one lump sum too. So you DO NOT have to make your room reservation. It will ALL be together! I have 15 rooms so you will need to pick your room mate. IF someone does NOT want a room mate let me know ASAP and I will have to add a single room.

WITH a room mate this year ('08) for 3 nights in our room and my croppin space I payed only $215 TOTAL! for a whole weekend with shackies that is great!!

She is sending me info with our cost and everything so when I get that I can give the total amount that it would cost for you!

What I NEED from YOU now is this:

1- I need a YES I'm coming!
2- I need to make sure we have 30!
3- I will need a $25 deposit from each 30 that says YES hold my spot! (Please do not send until I let you know that YES you have a spot!)

Here is the link to the Inn so you can check out the place: http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/inns/potawatomi/

We just had a get together last weekend there are lots of posts about it under "shackapaloosa" in the upcoming events section of the shack. There are also pictures in the gallery.

For '09 I am just starting planning in today. All we have for now are the dates. I have addded a link to the Inn's web-site for info on that. As far as info for this event there is not much yet.

Can someone please tell me the closest airport to the Inn.

05-07-2008, 01:19 PM
The CLOSEST airport is probably Ft. Wayne. I couldn't get a direct flight there. Detroit was 2 hours away. I also checked Lansing and a few others -- but the smaller airlines did not have direct flights from Baltimore...

O.K.....I have questions.

What is the approximate total cost of room and board, plus airfare?

Since I've never been on an airplane.....yikes......I was wondering if someone who is traveling either from Virginia or Maryland or North Carolina could be my guide? I know nothing about airports or making reservations.

Or is anyone from Virginia or Maryland or North Carolina driving that we could all ride together?

I guess I would have to figure all this out before committing, but I sure would like to go.

I don't know....there are two within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes from me....one in Lynchburg and one in Roanoke. Heck...I don't even know if my husband would be o.k. with me getting on a plane.

Chris, I'm going to do something I've never done before and take a GIANT LEAP into unknown territory.....

I can send you a deposit. That way I'll be safe if all details are worked out. If they don't work out....well....you can use my $25 for gifts for Paloosa.

Count me in....for right now anyway. (I'll add this to my ever growing prayer list that everything will work out.) (You'll have to change my maybe in the Poll to Yes....I don't know how to do that.)

Speaking of that...with 30 people going to be there, could we NOT have more than one project per person? That is an awful lot of shoebox projects to work on. I barely did all 13 in May. And possibly keep them simple? Just asking.

I think Chelsea is going to make something like the notebook thingy like last time, You know with all of the instructions for all of the projects. So lets say there is a project with a certain type of card you possibly could take the pieces you need to make the card when you leave and make it when you get home Is that clear as mud? Remember you don't have to bring a shoebox project...that doesnt mean you can't do the projects that other people bring.

I agree with you I just barely go my projects done by the time I left on Saturday night. I think I brought home two of them.

Oh, I know you can always take them home, I had to do that with Kimmy & Jennifers. But if it's one that you'd want to use the stamp provided for the project and you don't have something like that at home... well then what do you do?

I didn't want to open up a can of worms, but I felt like it needed to be brought up. If we're all working on 30 shoebox projects, which is fine and good, it doesn't leave us too much time for our personal stuff we want to work on. Chatting, shopping, eating, drinking, projects- we're gonna be busy gals.

It was a little, I was feeling like I wasn't going to get them done(I was jealous of Amy cause she was rocking 'em!) and then felt bad because I knew people put a lot of thought and work into getting them all ready and together. That was why I suggested keeping them to simple projects that could be easily completed.

well...sorta.... but you need the supplies that are in the shoebox. So you could do all of your stamping and stuff and then assemble later if you wanted, but usually there is something you have to do there.
