I must show you this.

It is of a photograph I recieved in the post this morning.

This is my grand daughter Zoe Ann. You might recall that I had the pleasure of going with her to choose the dress she would wear for her Prom.
WE are so proud of her. She will be 17 in November and if she gets the exam results she is hoping for, she will go on to 6th form college in September.

As a little one for years we worried that she was very small and dainty, then around the age of 8 she became very plump, and now as a young girl she looks absolutely fabulous in a size 8.
It is good to see them grow and mature and hopefully do well in their educational results. Obviously the main thing is for her to be happy, and I feel she is because we all love her so much.

Thank you for sharing one BIG happy moment with me, we are so proud of her.

She is absolutely beautiful-you did good with the dress.
It suits her to a tee. Best wishes for her with her educational future-it is so important to be happy in life, but nothing beats a good education to help that alone.

JP - she is absolutely beautiful. I love her dress. I do remember the excitement when you got to help her shop for her dress. You have every right to be proud of her. I hope she does well on her exam. I don't understand what 6th form college is? Here a 16 - turning 17 year old is usually starting their junior year of high school, meaning they have one more year (their senior year) before graduating and attending college.

Thanks so much for sharing with us :)

Thank you everyone for sharing my excitement and joy, and for the beautiful comments you made about my grand daughter.

Teresa when I mentioned 6th form college, it appears it means just the same as your understanding of the school system
If her grades are good enough she will be allowed to stay on for another senior year, the last before she goes to work or university, what ever the case may be.
There is no automatic right to stay on until the last year, their grades MUST be good enough,.......... and we do not have a graduation ceremony until they have completed their university years afterwards.

Thanks JP. How interesting. I love to learn what other countries do for their education system. It amazes me that even here in the US there are different grade levels, etc. Good luck to your grand daughter. I'm sure she will do well.
