Hot Cocoa mix

16 oz Nestle Instant Chocolate Mix
16 oz Cremora (as in the powdered creamer you add to coffee)
16 oz confectioners sugar (I prefer 10x but you can use regular)
25.6 box powdered milk (Carnation)

Mix altogether in large bowl. Separate into 9 pint jars. Hand these out at the holidays with a note that says "Add 3-4 tablespoons hot cocoa mix to 8 oz boiling water. Enjoy!"

It really is the BEST hot cocoa you will ever drink!! (I should sell the recipe to Starbucks. I absolutely HATE their hot chocolate! ha ha)

Once you taste it, you will NEVER buy the little pre-made envelopes again. At least I don't.

Thank You for sharing this with us again! I had it copied somewhere, but I can't find it!

I always add milk instead of water to my Hot Cocoa. Do you think that it would taste OK with this recipe too?

It truly is the best hot chocolate you'll ever make. The recipe Sherri shares is the exact same recipe my sons brought home from Montessori school when they were little - some 25 years ago! The recipe has been around for years but it is no-fail and is the best!

Drew and Katie had to run some errands and are picking up Chinese for dinner. I asked them to pick up all of the hot chocolate ingredients ... with strict instructions not to substitute any brands for what was written down. They've already called twice from the Creamora aisle and the powdered milk aisle! I hope they get it right - I want to make this tonight! (Of course I will wait until later to test it - I don't think it will go well with General Tso's Chicken) :) !!!

Thanks again Sherri for sharing this recipe.

Thanks again .... I will be making this for gifts. I'll have to wait until the skunk smell in my house goes away .... or someone will wonder why my hot chocolate mix has a peculiar odor and taste....lol (darn skunk and stupid dog)

Does anyone know how much 25.6 oz box of Carnation Powdered milk equals in cups? I bought the 4.4 lb. size and now I don't know how to convert it? HELP!!

I had this same problem last year. I had to call the company and get it figured out. You need 2 3/4 cups of the powdered milk.

I don't know.

But I was crazing hot cocoa something AWFUL the other day. I finally did buy envelopes but nothing compares to Sherri's stuff.

I promised myself next year at the first hint of cool weather I'm making this up for myself.

Christie,

Was that for the full recipe? The reason I'm asking is that doesn't seem like enough. The 25.6 oz. box makes 8 quarts of milk. You need 1 1/3 cups dry milk to make 1 quart. So, 8 x 1 1/3 cups = 10 2/3 cups. BUT, that sounds like too much. HELP AGAIN!!

Yes, that was for the entire recipe. That is what I used last year and it worked great!

Sounds good- this would make a great gift. I have done this in the past but not recently-people always enjoy it-wish I were drinking it right now.

Oh if that's the case I think one serving increments once a day all winter. Yup, that would work. :)

I used this (http://www.ecommi.com/grocery/images/NestleQuickInstantChocolateDrinkMix.gif) I don't know how it would taste if you used the hot cocoa mix.....I guess just try it and let us know. Who knows, I might be using the wrong thing!

I just checked my box. I used Nestle's Nesquik. I think it's the same as what Christie used, just a different container.
