That's a LOT of stamps!!! So sorry that you had to experience this! But, isn't it worth it to have it all over?? But, when you think about the whole thing not being YOUR fault, it's gotta make you mad! Add to that the emotional toll. not a good thing!

Can you ask the FBI to pay the bill for you?
I know, only kidding, you never want to see them again!
That stinks!

That's a terrible price to pay for being innocent. Sounds like the US legal system is in the same condition as the Canadian system.

Our system truly does STINK!!!! I swear we were only there for 2 hours which is still like $440 an hour so i have no idea how they came up with that amount. We are now "investigating" it ourselves!!!

ouch...billable hours are an amazing thing. They charge for phone calls, research, everything.

How terrible. I'd make an inquiry about it and also check to see if you can at least write off the bill on your taxes. Crazy lawyers - and crazy FBI!

Sherri, was it a one time consultation or more than once? If they didn't give you one, ask for an itemized breakdown.

My boss doesn't charge by the hour but by the type of offense. For example: he took a first offense DUI case today and charged the guy $2,000

It was an itemized breakdown on the bill but we still can't figure it out. ha
