I was cutting ATC cards and I discovered a way to get 10 from an 8 1/2" x 11 piece of cs. First I cut "lengthwise" a piece 3 1/2" wide,(so it was 3 1/2" by 11") then I cut the piece that was left 2 1/2" (I ended up with 2 of those, each 11" long). Then I cut the original 3 1/2 " x 11 piece every 2 1/2", and then the long 2 1/2" pieces every 3 1/2". I got 10 ATCs with very little left. Does that make sense to you?

Yup, that's how I do them. Very little waste. I think I saw this on a template site when I first started making them.

I end up with the same result, but first I cut my 11 inches at 5 inches, then cut that to 5 x 7 and get 4 out of that. Then I get 5 out of the remaining -- just like you do. It took me a while to figure it out!

EDIT: But WAIT! I only get 9 out of my configuration. I'll have to try yours!

Patty, here's where I got my template:

I commend you for figuring it out on your own. That was too much thinking for me.

I get 9 but will have to try the new way to get 10. Thanks for sharing.

But, the "new" problem is that most of the ATC swaps here are only for 9. So, I make 10 & have one of each of the 1200 swaps left over. One day, I'm gonna do a RAK of them all!!!

OR you can just save that extra one and after awhile you have enough for a Swap!

That template was shared to us at PCMB a long time ago--how to get 10 from one sheet: Cut two strips at 2.5 inches wide (going the long way of course) and you'll have one strip of 3.5" left.

Then cut 3.5" cards from each 2.5" strip and 2.5" cards from your 3.5" strip! Easy!

Yup...but I haven't known for too long. It's amazing what you learn just hanging out here!

OK, did you also know that you can get 14 from a 12 x 12 sheet?
Cut the sheet in half (6 x 12)
cut each piece at 2.5- (you now have two lots of 2.5 x 12 and 3.5 x 12)
now finish cutting into ATCs

Oh yeah, you can't do EITHER of these techniques if you are using your last piece of striped paper!! The stripes go the WRONG WAY on half of them. BUMMER!!! I can't find the paper anywhere so, half my ATCs will have wrong way stripes :(
