:spinny: yep XMAS is officially upon us. Today I really must start pressie shopping. I am having to manage all the gift/food shopping this year as hubby is feeling the financial strain . So any tips ideas/links on handmade extras would be really really appreciated. To hlep out I have started making cards for him to sell at work and already spreading the word on his rounds lol.
What I am stuck with is what do you buy a 16 year old lad/boy teenager lol im stumped...young children are so easy to pleasee but oh my teenagers are a nightmare !!

does he have an Ipod? My teenage nieces and nephews like i-tunes vouchers that they can buy movies or songs for their Ipod with. Of course Aunty sarah isn't cool enough to know what songs/movies they'd really like, so i let them pick their own with the gift cards.
Hope that helps.
They also like movie tickets. I've given them with a stash of candy to take to the movies with them

How about gift cards to his favorite place to eat or the movies or if he has an Ipod a music card.

Do you have something you give your kids every year and they know to expect it? I have given Laura & Bobby each new underwear every year, and they know every year there is a box with new boxers or panties. Hide a gift card in the underwear, and when they sling the box and say "Oh underwear", I have to say well look a little deeper in the box, might be something else in there. Just a little surprise.

Good suggestions all - I agree that teeneagers are difficult to buy for. I usually give them gift vouchers too.

Teenagers can really appreciate an envelope with money in it or a gift card. They are just too picky. We have a niece around that age and I've given up on picking gifts for her.

that is soo funny, Every year my mom would give my dh underwear. When she passes away he said (trying to cheer me up) "where will I get my underwear now?" Even though they won't admit it, it's the one gift they will definitely use!!

Does he drive a car yet? If so, I know he would appreciate a gas gift card.

A couple of years ago Ellie sent me a little fabric "wallet"--shaped exactly like an envelope. It is beautiful--purple silky lining inside and a purple brocade-ish outside. It is shaped like an envelope and has one button with a loop closure. It is the exact size for my checks and that's what I keep them in in my purse. I adore it. It only took such a little bit of cloth--no interfacing/lining--very girly. I have often thought of making some of those--you could use an envelope as a template--a glittery button--I've gotten sooooo many compliments on it. Its one of my favorite things. Just a thought.

gift cards to their favorite clothing store, resturant, movies, and then make a cute card holder or put candy and popcorn with the movie tickets. I gave mine a pizza gift card with popcorn and blockbuster movie card to have a friends night in. I found a templete (popcorn slide out) like the candy bar slide out and put the gift cards inside and it said enjoy a friends night in on me.

I was going to say gift cards too....it does sound like consensus to me. The i-tunes cards are definitely winners because they can use them anywhere in the world...as long as they like music and know how to operate a computer....some candy is always good too.
