Her name is Shannon and she is from my home town. She is probably around 25 years old and she was in a car accident a few days ago. She sat in her car for 6 hours before anyone found her and they had to amputate both legs and might have to take one arm too. She has two children and while she has a boyfriend, she is not married so long term care might be an issue for her (hopefully not).

She went to my parent's church with her grandma so my parents know her from the youth group. They are going to visit her soon to check on her. She really did not have a stable background so I really think things will be hard for her as she recovers.

OMG how terrible! We need to pray for those 2 children too - imagine how hard this will be on them as well.

oh, how sad. Perhaps you can somehow let her know that she is in many of our prayers and thoughts.....she probably feels pretty lonely right now.

My mom talked to a close friend of the family and she said that they had to remove at least one leg at the hip. I believe the other was at the knee, but I'm not exactly sure. It looks like they will for sure have to take her arm too. Her kidneys are beginning to fail too. She is somewhat coherent right now, but of course she is heavily sedated. I'm really not sure if she is expected to live.

The car actually landed on top of her so she was pinned underneath for six hours. Oh, it's just so awful.

As for her kids, mom says that she really has not played an active roll with them so while this is a tragedy, at least her kids will not be facing this with their primary care giver. -- when I first posted this, I was thinking she was caring for them so sorry if the title is a bit misleading.
