I'm canned. Axed, fired, terminated, out on my ear. Charissa called & w/o any ceremony said that due to policy violations, I'm gone. I asked when I can go pick up my stuff. She said she'll have to get back to me. I guess that means she has to supervise my exodus. Bummer!!

I'm mad, sad, pissed and relieved. Off to the unemployment office.....

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I'm feeling mostly ok. Everynow & again I feel a wave of sorrow. It's all gonna be ok. Dh & I discussed it & I only make a little less on unemployment than I do working so, I'm just gonna hange til something "perfect" comes along. I'm hoping I can get something at the kids' school. That would be PERFECT and it is w/in the realm of possibility. So, I'm just gonna hang (and do housework according to dh. LOL) and have time to stamp & get back into scrapbooking. And, finally have time to learn my PSE7. And, who knows. Maybe I'll FINALLY get to 5000 posts!!

What about the grievance process? what about the other person is she still there? doesn't seem fair to me.

Suzi, I know you probably don't want to hear it but it's most likely a blessing in disguise. Obviously they don't know how much of a good person they are losing. Bigger and better things are awaiting you. How does that saying go, "when one door closes; another one opens." Just try not to dwell on that closed door too much that you don't see the new one opening. I, myself, am trying to practice what I preach. We are like two peas in a pod and both of us will find our niche real soon.

Exactly. What is happening with the other person? Is she being fired, too? Sounds like you weren't given a fair shake (no progressive discipline).

Ok, I just filled out my unemployment claim and now I'm ready to cry. I'm afraid there will be issues since it asks if my employee manual has a policy on the reason I was fired. I know this will delay my clain and I'm guessing there is a good chance that it could negate my claim. I'm just hoping that IDES is reasonable. Since people are not fired EVERYTIME they get into an argument and they are not fired everytime they curse, I could reasonably assume that I was not going to get fired this time. Of course, that's just me talking. It is a policy in black & white. We'll see.

This seems so unfair, to have a summary dismissal without any sort of grievence or disaplinary procedure being followed. Did you belong to a uinion Suzi?

Please look at your contract and see if swearing is an issue where a summary dismissal can be invoked.
You usually find this towards the end of your written contract under procedures to be taken.
I do not know anything about American employment law, but I am going to do a computer search to see if I can come up with anything that might help you in your situation.
In the meantime keep smiling Suzi, you have many friends here at the Shack ready to give you support.

I am so sorry this is happening to you.
My question is, okay so you swore, and there should be some consequenses
for that, but to be fired?? Did you do it in front of some children?
Really what is their policy on swearing?

Sounds like you have a case of unfair firing to me, what happened to a wraning and a letter in your file, you know three strikes and your out.

I am with Erin, thats poop!!
