I've seen this technique before and even made some cards a few years ago, I just didn't know that there was a name for it.
I like cutting and gluing along with my stamping ( my sister reckons I missed out on something in kindergarten) so it's a great fit for me.

I always thought it was called Serendipity paper? Anyone else remember? I've not tried to do this for a long while.

I have always heard it called serendipity squares. Most often people cut the paper into squares after they make the big sheet. But I have seen some really nice cards that cut it into different shapes. Here is a really pretty one on 2Peas that was made using stamped images (no pattern paper). On one she cut the paper into flower petals.

I also made some squares for a swap on another site that turned out really pretty. It is the first time I've done these.

I run a private swap group where we do a technique challenge each month and this is what we will be doing. I knew of this technique from scrapbooking, but I thought it had become kind of old fashioned. I guess there is a renewed interest.

Judy, your project came out really nice. Can you tell me what you used for glue. I use to use spray adhesive, but had to do this outside on a NON-windy day. Has anything better or newer surfaced in the past 3 years for this technique. I hate getting glue all over the papers.

Here's a link to a 3 pages long thread on 2peas, about serendipity. There are a lot of links. People posted their serendipity paper, and the cards they made out of it. It was a fun challenge!!

Thanks for sharing this technique! I hadn't heard of it...but always loved the word SERENDIPITY and if I had a shop that would be the name of it. :)

Well, it was my first attempt at this, so I may not have used the "correct" adhesive. I just used a good ol' glue stick. I have also seen some use a Xyron. I don't get along well with spray adhesive so I probably would not use that. Mod Podge would probably be overkill.
