Ok, so tonight was Zumba class again. I was thinking that perhaps some of you might be thinking of trying this class out, so I thought I would pass along some of the knowledge I have learned from class.
Bootie Law #1: A bootie at rest wants to stay at rest. So when the instructor starts the class by having you shake your bootie around to the salsa music, your bootie might say "yeah right". Maybe try putting your hands back there and manipulating your bootie to get it going. This is best done when you have the coveted back-to-the-wall spots, otherwise you might freak out the gals behind you.
Bootie Law #2. A bootie in motion wants to stay in motion. So we shake it while moving to the right. Then we're supposed to stop and start shaking it and moving to the left? Not good! However, if your instructor is smart, she will hold class in a non-mirrored room. We do it in a raquetball court. It is used to having things ricochet off the walls.
Bootie Law #3: Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. You do NOT want to be doing this in a room with a mirror. believe me, you don't need to see yourself doing these motions. Also-see the ricochet concern in #2. Mirrors can shatter, you know!
Bootie Law #4: "bootie = mc squared". Or something like that relating to the energy put out by the bootie shaking. Multiply that by multiple booties shaking in close proximity. You wanna try to stand next to people that are somewhat coordinated. You don't wanna try to shake to the right while they shake to the left. Remember that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you smack booties, you may affect the magnetic pull of the earth. Or the space time continum may break down. Something drastic like that.
So there you go. Never forget the lessons of the bootie!!!
