I'm very happy to be able to participate in the Stamp Shack's weekly creative challenges. This week's challenge is another color challenge but with a twist. You will be creating a monochromatic card. That is, your card will be made entirely of one color. You may use varying shades of the color you choose, but your designer paper, colors, embellishments must all be of your chosen color.

For my sample card of a monochromatic card I chose the color gray. You can see my sample card in the gallery HERE (http://stamp-shack.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=23375)

Now be assured you do NOT have to make a gray card. You may choose any color you'd like for your challenge card. The only rule is it must be all that color. I chose gray as a mini challenge to myself to see if I could create a non-drab gray card. :twitcy:

AND, I have a prize to be randomly chosen next week. Many shackies have expressed interest in the Heather's Stamping Haven stamp that you'll see a photo of below. So if you'd like to have that friends stamp of the two little girls now is your chance.

I'm looking forward to seeing a rainbow of monochromatic cards in the gallery this week.

ENJOY!

UPDATE:
I thought I'd keep a running list of participants in this week's challenge in the order your card is posted. This number will be your assigned number and used in the random number generator for the two girl friends stamp prize.

1.) Frankiesue
2.) Kerry
3.) Lakeslady
4.) Smileycollector
5.) Heather J.
6.) Tojoco
7.) Artyfarty
8.) Grammastamper
9.) Dancing Queen
10.) Loobylou
11.) MidwestStamper
12.) MidniteCreations
13.) Seaside Rose

I'll continue to add to the list as you post. Three more days to create your card for the challenge.

Gee Nancy needs to post the birthday card I sent her. I didn't intend for it to be monochromatic, but it sure came out that way! Just kidding!

Great challenge! I will sift through my stash of supplies later this weekend and get to work. Unknowingly, I just did a "brown" monochromatic this week with my Gecko card so will go for a brighter one this time.

Hmmmm....Which color should I use.

I'm going to stretch myself...NO PINK OR BLUE....

Maybe green???

This is going to be hard for me. I always pick Pink or Blue...

I went "fallish" as well.

I had a new TAC set of leaves that I used on this monochromatic card (http://stamp-shack.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=23392&limit=recent).

Thanks for the fun challenge!

Heather, the rusty orange color is beautiful. Not a better choice for this card with the lovely leaves. A beautiful autumn card done all in orange!

I didn't go "fallish." I love this SU Serene Spring set. I stamped the image in Bashful Blue and then "painted" it with Bashful Blue ink. Here's my entry (http://stamp-shack.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=23396) into the challenge #14.

Joanne, the title of this stamp, "Serene Spring" aptly describes this lovely blue card and image. The muted blues are serene and lovely. Great job on the challenge.

Thanks for playing along, Barb! The cube makes a fabulous background. Love it. I think the little bird looks fabulous in blue. Perhaps it is a little blue bird coming out of a robin's egg blue shell. Great challenge card. Love it!

Here's a link to my monochromatic card entry. This was my first ever challenge and I made a mistake by not titling it correctly as Color Challenge 14 Monochromatic :( Anyway, I hope you enjoy the result as much as I enjoyed learning some new techniques. TFL

You stop that! Your work is always beautiful and this white card is amazing. I'm so glad you played along. Maybe one of the moderators could switch it into the challenge card file. But even if it isn't there by the title, it certainly is entered into this week's challenge.

When you post a challenge card put the title of the challenge in the title part and then select the Card challenge category. For me, it doesn't make a lot of difference since I'm looking for monochromatic cards this week and you posted on this link that it was your entry. So no worries at all. It is in. :)

Here's (http://stamp-shack.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=23426&nocache=1) my monochromatic challenge entry.
Funny story - I made this card last night. I wasn't quite sure if I should stop or keep adding stuff/coloring on it. So, I first scanned the card. That way, if I screwed up, I had a backup already scanned. Well, as you would know it, I was finished coloring the card and rubbed my finger to blend a couple of spots. When I lifted my fingers, instead of a spot blended area, I had added Black to it. I had picked up some black pencil shavings from my pencil sharpner when sharpening the blue pencil! I tried cleaning it up, but just smudged more and more. So, I thought, ok, it's nearly 1:30 a.m., I'll just post the card I've already scanned. And here is where it got really bad. My scan was too high a dpi for the gallery here to accept and my card was all screwed up so I couldn't get a new scan! This morning, I redid the card and hopefully this one will upload. And the best part, I like this card a lot better!

Thank you Jennifer. This was definitely not in my comfort zone, because I love colors. But, I really liked it. Plus, I've got a couple more in my head that I'm working on now. Thanks for a fab. challenge.

Thanks Jennifer. Cards sometimes just happen. ;) I had a totally different color palette (that involved a multicolored DP) for this project, and was mulling over ideas for the monochromatic card at the same time. Not sure at what point it all gelled into one card, but I am very pleased with the effect as well. Those microbeads are a bear to work with but add so much. ;)
