I just learned a new thing where you take Versamark and stamp your image on the backside of your CS. Then take your embossing stylus and rub, when you turn your paper over it will look like you had a light table and the brass templates or even one of the machine based embossers. The best part is you can use any stamp. Honestly I would use the easier lined ones. I have tried it with snowflakes and the one of the SU blossom sets and it looks AWESOME!

I've never tried it that way. I love dry embossing. Love it, love it, love it! I think this method sounds great because it gives us yet another use/technique for using our bazillion and three rubber stamps!:winks:

I use the SU paper pad or the really cheap foam thingy I got from Michael's under it. Just be VERY careful not to put too much pressure at one time or you will rip the paper. Just go lightly over it repeatedly. If I get a minute later if the kids leave me alone long enough I will try to get a picture of one and post it.

:worried: ...are we rubbing the stamped side or the un-stamped side? Should one work a little fast so as not to let the ink dry on us?
I had not heard of this technique before so that is why I have all the questions?
Thanks...

You rub on the marked side and with versamark it doesn't matter how fast or how slow because with Versamark when it dries it dries like a watermark. Clear as mud? OK I didn't make it upstairs yeasterday , but I am going right now!

OK...I finally got a chance to do it step by step....

1st-get your stamps (outlines work best) Versamark, Embosser pen, Pad to work on

2nd- Stamp Image on back side of paper

3rd- Emboss Image on back of paper

4th- Turn over and see your your finished image

Vhalaaa your master piece is done! Clear as Mud like I said!

I tried this, too, and found that, like regular dry embossing, if you rub wax paper over the image first, your stylus moves more smoothly. Make sure you stamp first, then rub the wax paper. It doesn't take much, but I think it makes all the difference. HTH, ladies.

I can see the gallery now.... hehehe

thanks for the new technique. I have been dying to try dry embossing however I don't have any of the supplies (just the stylus) - Now I can try it without the expense. Thanks much for sharing!

It also looks great if you do it on vellum, where you rub with your embossing stylus goes opaque and the rest of the vellum looks clear, it looks really cute. I am teaching dry embossing in a few weeks, so I'll see if I can get something done and upload it! :winks:

sounds easy enough. I want to try embossing but like kenzlane I don't have the supplies. Not sure I want to spend the money on something I might not use. Would rather spend it on things I know I want. lol This sounds like a great way to use what we already have. Thanks for sharing!
