I never think of not making Christmas cards...it's really the only holiday that I do go full force with it...but this yr is a little different for me...I am on a strict budget and really trying to figure out the cheapest way to make my Christmas cards this year, but I also want to make pretty cards as well...as of last weekend M's didnt have any Christmas paper out/ the paper packs they have. I usually order from SU, but not sure if that is a good idea this yr...
I have a coupon for Joann's that I got in the mail some time ago...expires today so I am hoping to find some stuff there...
wish me luck!
Are any of you ladies cutting corners cost wise? And if so, how??

Think outside the box and work with what you have on hand. I rarely make Christmas cards with traditional Christmas colors although a doggie card I have made the past couple years has them. I have used tan, lots of blues, burgundy, black & gold and I was even doing a pink one this year. See what you have and be creative!

Darlene I hope you find what you are looking for at Joannes so you can use your coupon. It is amazing how much pretty papers cost- but perhaps as Kathy suggested you could try your favorite Christmas stamps with non traditional colors. Your cardmaking is very good so I know you will come up with the perfect cards!!

Darlene,
Have you looked at at shack's template file?...there are several backgrounds that could be printed on cardstock.
Often I use white cardstock from Walmart-Georgia Pacific 110 weight for my base and let inks do all the rest. Some galleries have cards listed with no layers...they are usually the least expensive and often very striking!
If you have kept any old purchased cards you can cut the apart and recycle into your own collage creations.
You might think about creating ATC's and sign them on the back or bookmarks.
Whatever you do keep them fairly flat and do not put them in square envelopes or you will be paying extra mailing costs.
Hope you think of something that makes you happy!!
