I have made this recipe several times. Though it's been a while.
It's really delicious. I have made this during holiday times for family.

For the filling I use the juice from the cans that you need for the topping.
so that way your not purchasing seperate cans for the pineapple and the juice.

For the rum, I would use a nip, that way I didn't have a whole bottom of rum sitting around. Unless of course, you already have rum.

Also when you do the topping , you really need to drain the pineapple really well, otherwise it will get very soggy.

On the plus side, the longer the cheesecake sits in the refrigerator, the stronger the rum flavoring happens.
