YIKES!!! That's cold!! Do they cancel school when it gets that cold (no I do NOT have a one track mind!) Here, when it gets below zero they have to cancel it for all the little darlings that have to ride the bus. Can't have them freezing their tushies off. I'm betting in your neck of the woods, they know better how to deal w/those temps!

Heat wave here - 20's and windy. Maine is great in the Summer and Fall - not sure I could handle it now however! Stay warm!

Suzi thought you might be interested in knowing our schools here have a policy never to close because that might be the warmest place for a child to stay all day. Of course parents are expected to use their own judgement of what is a safe means and temp to transport a child to school. Recess for our grade schools is scheduled for outdoor until 20 below. Of course it is always the challenge of who can stick their tongue to something metal at the coldest temps OUCH!
Oh my it is winter once again and I am sad so many fruit trees are being damaged!...Jan

That is cold. We have been having below zero temperatures here. Some areas of Utah are getting that cold. School here is still going. If the cancelled school for the cold or snow they would have to close the school from December through March and sometimes through May. Keep warm. Enjoy some hot chocolate. Hugs, Heather

Well it's going to be 30 here in Houston with freezing rain! I'm excited but then I don't live in this kind of weather all the time. Hope you stay warm and toasty and that your toes don't freeze off!

OMG. Think warm thoughts and snuggle with someone. I went from sunny southern California to Idaho my freshman year in college. What a wakeup call. I remember walking to school and seeing the thermometer at school read 9 degrees. I had to laugh out loud. I had no idea what could was like before that. :)

Erin you would never make it anywhere else then where you are. It is warming up here, we are only going to be -1 tonight. There are some winters were you get so used to the cold that 10 is warm. At 40 you open up the house to let the fresh air in.

I don't believe there is any difference between 20 and neg 20, there is just two stinking cold and then it's all the same. I mean can you really FEEL the difference? You poor things!

mommagus
01-17-2007, 12:22 AM
Yep, we can tell the difference. Just like there is a difference in a wet snow and a dry snow. And it all depends if the wind is blowing, if it is then it can get down right cold.
