Hiya ladies,

Since we have been kicking around the idea of implementing a membership fee, a few users have gone into panic mode and have begun downloading between 20 and 50 templates at a time. As you know, we have been having issues with the server and this unneccessary downloading is causing even more strain on the already unstable server.

To eliminate hoarding, I have put a temporary quota on the templates. Until we get moved to the dedicated server, you will be able to download only three templates in a 24 hour period. If you are unable to download the templates, it means that you have reached your quota and you can try again the next day.

If you were one of those users who recently downloaded a large number of templates, your downloading priviledges have been suspended until further notice. Please accept my apologies.

Oh dear Sherry! As if you don't already have enough to concern yourself with. Keep Smiling! :)

I certainly never imagined that it would become as popular as it did :)

I think just looking at them is considered a download. I was looking at some earlier today after Sherry posted this and after I looked at three, it wouldn't let me open anymore.

same here. I just went to look at the new downloads added. After I had looked and then went back to download one I had decided on I was told I had exceeded my download limit. No problem, now I know that is how it works i will try again tomorrow. But maybe you could put a warning to that effect somewhere Sherry? I promise it's not me who downloaded heaps before!

Don't worry guys :)

I am able to see the name and the number of templates each user downloads and none of you are guilty. I don't mind people downloading a few templates here and there but downloading 30 to 50 templates in one sitting is a little greedy in my opinion. One user downloaded all of the templates and then emailed me and asked me to delete her account!! Grrrr....

Here is a tip: To "look" at the template, click on the magnifying glass and not the actual pdf file. This will allow you to look at the template up close before you download and use up your quota.

OMG! Sherry! That is just awful! I think of us as a big family and then someone behaves like that! SHAMEFUL! I'm so sorry to see you being taken advantage of. WHAT? Delete her account after stealing?!?? SHAMEFUL!

How absolutely appalling! I can't believe that we had someone like that in our family. Terrible, terrible, terrible!

Weeeellll, she's really not part of the "family" at all, IS she? :no2: She wanted her account deleted. So I hope you DID delete it Sherry...and while you're at it, is there a way to ban the IP address?

What NERVE. :arghh:

Honestly! What a greedy goat! Well that's fine, I say delete her and that's the end of her. The laugh's on her because our beloved Sherry has an ENDLESS capacity for making awesome templates and someday she will see the coolest thing and try to find out where to get the template and someone will cheerfully say, "Oh over at the number one stamp site on the web The Stamp Shack" and she will hand her head and say, "I can't get it then, I had them delete my membership". And it will be sad for her but she will learn a wonderful lesson.

Ok, I'm being way dramatic in reality I feel,

I know this will probably sound ugly, but that's exactly why there should be a membership fee...for people who are SERIOUS about supporting Sherry and her website.

I don't think it sounds ugly at all. I agree. People who just take, take, take and never give really annoy me. Even if Sherry decides not to charge a membership fee, I still don't like people who just come around and soak up all the good stuff and never contribute any thing. Even just posting cards in the gallery or responding to questions is contributing. You don't necessarily have to give money. I think that person is kinda stinky too as Erin would say.

Ohhhhh! Oops!
I thought because I wasnt saving it, that it wasnt truly downloading, just opening up.
Thanks for the tip about clicking on the thingy to make it open up the picture too. Didnt even noitce that.
And I cant believe someone would ask to have their account deleted. What does it hurt to have an account just sit there anyway. Even though I think if she was going to download the templates she should hang around and play with us, it makes me wonder why she wanted it deleted though, thats just strange. :err:

Actually, I've had quite a few requests for account deletions. I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind them - people never elaborate. Perhaps they think by having an account that their emaill/personal info is out there for all the world to see. I dunno:huh:

In any case, I prune user accounts every couple of days anyhow. Users who haven't logged on in 45 days are deleted. I don't believe in false stats.

hmmm, well I think we all know what I think about that!
