I was given a wonderful and very interesting RAK of Stampbord and an etching tool, and before I plunge in and try it out, I wondered if anyone has had experience using this? I remember hearing or seeing the name STAMPBORD before, but can't remember if use of it has been discussed.
Would love to hear from those of you who have used it.:)

I am sure that one of the very talented stampers here has used this before. I am hoping to hear straight from the mouth (or in our internet case, straight from their typing fingers) what successes, concerns and experiences they've had.
It really looks neat!:D

Stampbords are wonderful!! They take any dye ink easily and if you make a mistake just sand it off and try again. I've used it with Stampscapes stamps. I stamp the image with black Marvy dye ink and then sponge the color on. Then I used the scratch tool to remove the ink to add the highlights (White areas on the boards). Then I put a coat of spray gloss on it to protect it. I put some samples in the gallery.

So much fun!

Your samples in the gallery are absolutely stunning! The colour you achieved is amazing.
I'm not sure I understand the whole process but I've GOT TO give this a try.
Ok...I've got the tools. Now to dive in!
Thanks so much for your advice and examples!:)

I've tried it twice at different rubber stamp shows/conventions. Both times we used Stampscapes stamps and achieved great results. I haven't ever tried it on my own, but I should!

I checked out the website for the stamp store I like and I see they are listed as selling it. I will get some the next time I am down there. It sounds really neat! Thank you for posting the link, Jennifer :)

Stamp the image and then lightly scrape off the ink and clay from the board. It brings out a "light" on the image. I have used it with some of my Stampscapes stamps. I think it was first introduced by the man who makes the Stampscapes stamps.
