I've posted before about using stampbord and today I finally got my stampbord out and began experimenting but while I am following the directions, mine just doesn't even begin to come close to what other examples I've seen suing stampboard.

Please, can any of you stampbord experts give me some simply stated tips and advice. I just read and saw on Debbie's blog (1of2shoes) her beautiful gift bags. Debbie is such a savvy stamper and technique technician! Debbie, if you are here, please give me some tips. The parts I've etched look blah and my colors are just so so.

Jennifer, if you go back in Debbie's blog, she gives good directions on one of her posts about stampbord. I am ashamed to tell you that my piece of stampbord is still naked!

I've never used stampboard but I'm curious. What are you going to do with it?

Thanks Tami. I did read Debbie's blog and hers are just amazing. I don't know why mine look so ho-hum. What am I doing wrong? YIKES!

Teresa, right now mine is an ATC project for justjohanna. I have never been good at ATC's (probably because I just plain do not like making ATC's...it's a personal problem! ) But I have to make some ATC's and I thought it would be really cool to use the stampboard on one or two. I have my layout with the stamps and that isn't the problem. Just the result. I've seen gorgeous ATC's using stampboard and I just don't think I'm doing it correctly.

I think one of the tricks is to use multiple layers of ink....honestly can't remember anything else, though. Debbie is the queen of stampboard! Also check out Julie's blog....lost luggage. She has been doing alot of stampboard lately, too. There is a link to her blog on Debbie's blog.

Here's a Stampbord ATC I just recently did. I just brayered Kalidiocolor(sp?) over the board. Then stamped my images with Versafine Black. Heat set it. Then, scratched the color from the flowers and the flowers on the bird.

On the card below, I stamped the image with Marvy black dye ink and then sponged the color on the board. Then scratched the highlights on the rocks and water, and scratched in the stars.

Thank you so much, Mary! Looking at these photos helps me a lot. I think I'm going to put it away for today and work on it some more tomorrow. I can see from your photos a lot that I could do differently/better.

Thanks everyone!! :)
