This is the last time I'll talk about it...I'm sure some people are tired of seeing it.
I've never been to a Greek Catholic church before and it was very interesting. Almost all of the ceremony was sung. There were TONS of people in attendance, we took two busses from our school (one filled with teachers and one filled with students and parents). The church was overflowing with beautiful flower arrangements from all over the world! News media was respectful and were stationed across the street so that was at least acceptable. The church was packed to capacity and more than half of the people (including myself) were seated or standing in the narthex portion of the church. From there, we watched the funeral on a video screen. After the church ceremony, the funeral procession was so touching. We had three busses carrying people to the cemetary and there were over 25 motorcycle cops escorting the HUGE motorcade. People were standing outside the schools, beside their cars, outside their homes, even fire trucks were stopped on the side of the road to show their respects. One ladder truck had a VT Hokie flag hanging from it. It took approximately an hour to get to the cemetery. I felt bad for all the people who were stopped in traffic. The gravesite was just beautiful. There were over 30 beautiful flower arrangements, so lovely and colorful! The family and church leaders sang some Persian burial song that was so beautiful. I wish I knew what it meant.
What a touching tribute to a beautiful woman and family. May Reema rest in peace.
PS...I found out today that Joe Samaha explained to news what his last name meant....forgiveness...and that is exactly what they are doing.
