Thread: Got some not-so-good news today

  1. Thumbs down Got some not-so-good news today

I've been having some issues with my right leg since Christmas Eve. It was and still is aching like a bugger. I'm having painless muscle spasms, and a pins & needles sensation from the knee down.

So I go to my doctor this morning thinking I was going to be told that I have a blood clot or something. Well, he did all kinds of 'tests' and spent some time reading over my chart. Then, he raised his head and said "Well, Sherry, I don't want you to be frightened by this news but I think we're dealing with something potentially serious". So yeah, I was thinking, here it comes...I DO have a blood clot. But what came out of his mouth next caught me completely off guard. "I am highly suspicious - I think you may have MS".

Excuse me...did you just say MS??

He is basing his "PRE" diagnosis on the exam he did today and past/recent complaints (ie. pins and needle sensation in my right arm for 3 days just a few weeks ago). He also had me walk across the floor and he noticed that I seemed to be dragging my right foot a little bit. I could tell something was up with that leg but I had no idea I was dragging my foot!

So, I am now scheduled to see a specialist for an MRI and possible a lumbar puncture (doesn't that sound just lovely?). I don't ask for prayers all that often but it sure would mean alot if you could keep me in your thoughts.

    Oh, my.
I'm so sorry to hear this news, Sherry.
Of course I'll be sending prayers your way!
I'll send the hope that the doctor is wrong too!
Also, strength to deal with "it" whatever it is!
    Great big HUGS to you~

  3. Sending prayers now....my goodness what a shock this must be. You are added to the top of my prayer journal. Big hugs from all of us.

  4. Sherry, my heart goes out to you. I know what you are going through right now and if I can help you in any way, please let me know.

An MRI is the only way to diagnose MS. How soon will you be able to get it done? I know of a woman who went to the US and paid for it because she didn't want to wait. If we had known that we could do that, we would have done it, too.

    Prayers coming your way.

  5. Oh my gosh, Sherry! I'm praying that the doctor's speculation prior to recieving the full reports is wrong.

Powerful positive thoughts for healing and strength to you!
    Jennifer

Oh, Sherry. I am definitely, DEFINITELY going to keep you in my prayers. I hope your doctor is wrong, wrong, wrong, and all you have is a knotted muscle, and nothing else.

Oh sherry My thoughts and prayers and heart go out to you. MS is from the same family as Parkinsons. The minute you said pins and needles and muscle spasms I was sure I knew what was coming next. How is your energy level? Has that been affected. It is a disease that can go into remission, But hard to treat . but they are finding new things through research These diseases are all so different in each person , everyone's symptons can be different. Mine is on my left side . It seems like they effect one side first. Do you know the name of the doctor you will see, the first doctor I saw in Halifax was one who specialized in MS nicest doctor I ever met. Dr. Bond or something like that > Then I went to see Dr King whose 'thing 'is Parkinsons . MY advise to you is to keep moving Walk exercise, don't stop ,don't give it a chance to slow you.I so hope your doctor in Tatamagouche is wrong. is it Moss or Mccarthy. Keep us posted. Please call or pm me if you wish to talk. i know nothing about it , but do know about hearing such news and trying to accept it.God be with your family. Heather
