Has anyone had a strained muscle?

I have a strained muscle on my forearm. It has been 4 weeks already and it is still sore. My doc gave me some prescription anti-inflamitories but they aren't helping. Just wondering if it's normal for it to last this long.

I had a strained muscle in the upper part of my arm a few years ago. I forget what medication I took, I imagine it was Tylenol as that is about all I take for any kind of pain, but I did go to PT a few times, and they wrapped my arm in warm clothes, and cut the light out in the room, and I fell fast asleep every time. But after about 6 weeks, the muscle straightened itself out. So I hope your muscle gets straightened out soon.

I have had many strained muscle I also work with people who have strained muscles everyday... they are very easy to re- injure...you get a false security that the muscle is getting better...then bam...you have a flare up again. Muscle are very difficult to heal...especially ones we use all of the time. Slow gentle stretches are best...but start with a Ice/heat regimine...this works best then follow it with a slow stretch. Hope this helps...also rest it as much as possible.

Thanks for the tips Terry. I'm going to try the ice/heat thing!
