Sounds like he might have kennel cough. Our dog had it when we first took him home. He was calm and docile and just laid around and we thought, hey, he's an easy dog. But that changed once figured out he was sick and got the case of kennel cough cleared up! He was full of energy after that. It was like he pulled a bait and switch on us!

I know exactly what you're talking about! My beagle, Samson, will turn 2 on June 16th and he's still a bundle of energy! My husband keeps saying we should get Samson a buddy--meaning a puppy. I'm not sure I'm ready for that!
