Thought I would share this with you all

Jacob and I have been feeding the birds in our back yard for a long time now. We've had lots of Mourning Doves, sparrows, blue jays, ducks and even wild turkeys. The last couple of weeks, the bird feeders seemed to get emptied faster than ever and it seemed odd because I hadn't seen many birds lately and for that much food to get eaten, I was thinking I'd see tons of birds. Well, tonight, the mystery was solved!

The pics are blurry because it was dark and the critters wouldn't stand still. LOL There were at least a dozen of them out in our field tonight!

Tracey, You are lucky to have such a diverse bird population!

Oh my the deer are hungry!...are you discouraged from feed them? Here we are not to feed the moose and other large animals.

    Thanks so much for sharing!

LOL! That's funny! WE had a batch of purple finches, must have been at least 100 that started coming in and cleaning out 3 big feeders in about an hour. It was weird. went on for about a week. I like your critters!

Those deer have found a good place to eat in the cold and snow. Here you can buy big bags of deer feed/corn. We don't have any deer around our house. I love to watch all wildlife tho.

I know we can't bait them so we can shoot them, but honestly, we were just feeding birds and the deer kept coming at night and emptying the feeders. I didn't know it was deer until after our snow, because we saw their tracks. Since I still need to feed the birds, I bought a bag of wildlife food this week. It is cheaper than bird seed and well, if the deer are going to eat it anyway, I might as well save a bit of cash and feed all the critters what they like.

That's pretty neat! We have deer around here but they don't come out of the woods very often. I usually have a couple of pesky little squirrels that invade my bird feeders.

Glad your mystery is solved. They sure do eat more than birds I am sure. TFS
