I love layering in my cardmaking, but often the front of the card becomes much heavier than the back of the card. How do you guys deal with that? Thanks for any thoughts.

That recently happened to me too. I was using a premade kraft card so I was disappointed I hadn't thought about heat embossing a background would cause too much added weight. It only had a small amount of extra paper. Since it was a dark kraft paper I fully lined it with a brighter interior. I did score it before adhering the 2 pieces and I did have to trim the edges.

I love to use Gina K Heavy Base Weight! It is heavier and holds up well.

For extra stability, Add any extra embellishments toward the bottom of the card, and have the card open at the side, not the top.
For "faux" layering I often use marker pens to color all the edges!
Sometimes I have had to add a layer to the inside back of the card to "beef" it up a bit.

You are some smart cookies! I have struggled with this myself. Thanks for the ideas.
I use a heavy weight cardstock too for my base but even with that, I don't have much luck with making the ones that open at the bottom. They "slide" open and lay flat if I have layers on the front. I am a fan of the side fold.

Thanks everyone... I think I'll start adding a layer to the inside back of the card and see how that works out. You guys are the best!
