Question Water Color & Mixed Media Questions

Jan (Far North) got me hooked on SCS Mixed Media. That being said, I've got a couple of questions. A few weeks ago I went out and bought Watercolor Crayons and today I bought Faber-Castell Gelatos. Every video I've seen using these products, makes it look like you just swipe them across your page, add water and "voila," you've got an instant watercolor background. NOT! I'm finding it's hard to remove the initial lines that both the crayons and the gelatos make from my initial swipe across the paper. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have a solution? HELP!

well, you could try swiping them on with less pressure. or in a circular motion..or it might be you need more water. play around and see if any of those things help

I use water colour crayons as my main colouring media but I use them with a water brush. It has a soft tip and is filled with water. Then I just rub it on the tip of the crayon and paint. I haven't seen the technique you mention, I will have to research, so not much help to you.

Maybe Angie will have some tips for you, I know she loves her gelatos. I don't own any yet.

in my experience with them, you don't need so much pressure when swiping them across the page. and be generous with the water. you can always add more color if you need to.
