I am hearing a lot about these markers...and I have not jumped on the band wagon...yet... I wanted to try a few...my questions are...if I wanted to purchase a few... to try...where would I do this...I don't ahve any local places that carry them...and what colors would you try first? Thanks for sharing.

Do you not have a Hobby Lobby? They have them in their arts section.

I only have 3 too.

The 3 that I have...

Skin White---great skin color.
Brick Beige---great brown color...specially for HouseMouse
Cool Gray---perfect for shading

I need to go get a baby blue one too.

Those are the ones that I would just have to have no matter what.

I'd try here:

If you like pastels, Set C is excellent (I have that one). But, go to this place:

http://www.copicmarker.com/home/cm1/smartlist/19/0 and look for the charts. I'd buy the Copic/Ciao markers as they are less expensive and that's the ones Gina K. Designs sells through the Copic Marker club she's got going.

I love my Copics.

No Hobby Lobby here... Michaels...but they don't have them.

$3.95 a marker. I have not tried them , but am hoping to get some to try . I joined Gina K's copic club.
I not sure what colors to start with but heard someone else say to start with a flesh tone.

Terry, I like www.dickblick.com (http://www.dickblick.com) that is where I get a lot of my stuff. They are normally the cheapest price around and you can buy singles instead of the large sets. I buy a few at a time a little easier on the budget. Also if you sign up for their newsletter they run shipping deals about every other month, so if you can catch it when that is on, they are an even better deal.

I would start with a couple of basics -- a skin tone, a light tan and maybe a celery green. I use my pencils with the markers, so I like to use light colors for the markers and then add shading and depth with the pencils. I did buy Christmas Red and Christmas Green, but I don't have a lot of bold, dark colors in Copic.

I think you could get away with about 4-5 to start with. I only have about a dozen Copics, and I am not planning on buying any more. (don't quote me on that!)
