Question about a butterstick

How much does a butterstick weight??
I'm on the site of martha stewart for the adorable cupcakes.
And i saw a yummie chocolatecupcake by everydayfood,but didn't find out how much butter i have to use.
But by other recipes there is written a stick of butter??

not sure of the weight, but I believe one stick of margarine or butter equals 1/2 cup??? correct me girls if I'm wrong.

Four sticks of butter equals one pound so one stick would be a quarter of a pound or four ounces.

But somehow i just looking and searching to great recipes but not have yet make cupcakes.
