Sad News about my Brother

My one and only sibling is my younger brother Don--he's just 14 months younger than me.

We were very sad to find out last night that he had died sometime in the past two days. We had to call the police to get into his house, and they found him. We are waiting for a report today from the Medical Examiner for a cause of death.

My Mom usually hears from him or sees him every day since he's been helping her alot. He just got laid off from his work a month ago so he's had sort of irregular schedule. We'd all been together on Monday for a pleasant Labor day picnic at our place.

But by last night we realized that neither of us had heard from him or seen him (he only lives a block from us and very often hangs out at our house) since Monday. We got ahold of one of his best friends, and he also hadn't been able to get in contact.

So we went to his house, saw that his car was still in the garage, and the AC was running even with the cool temps. We had keys to open the screen door, but it appeared to be locked from the inside. So we finally called the police, and they had to push in a window AC unit to get in.

So now we will have to go through the whole process again that we so recently went through when my Dad died this past January.

My brother was only 49, but was one of those guys who never went to the doctor so we have no idea what was going on with him internally. He wasn't married--my two boys had always meant so much to him.

Thanks for 'listening'. I don't know how much I'll be on the MB for the next week or so as we make funeral plans and deal with his personal business.
