Hey, is this a crazy idea? I am making baby shower invitations (like 100 of them, don't laugh that's not the crazy part) and I'm thinking about buying some cheap safety pins, swiping clear ink on the tops of them, then dipping them in pink embossing powder and zapping them with my heat gun. Has anyone tried it or seen it done?

I've done it but I think for 100 it's just too much work. You can get a 50 pack of making memories ones for just a couple of dollars at M's I think. But yes it will work.

I haven't tried it, but do you know that you can buy colored safety pins? It might save you a lot of trouble, Unless you want to do them.

Good Luck!

I have done this on pins and brads. It works...no problem. To make things go faster, get from floral oasis andstand the pins/brads in it. You can heat them pretty quickly that way.

I just paint them pretty with nail polish. It's heaps quicker

I've done that quite a bit but don't think I'd want to try it on 100! I don't bother with the ink though. I hold it with a long tweezer, hot it up and then just dip it in the EP and zap it again.

Can't wait to see those invites!

You can also use sharpie markers to color them and souffle pens to add a few polka dots.

Wal-mart too sales colored safety pins. I do think if you use the embossing ink and get a good coating it should work-interesting I may try it too even tho I have bought the colored ones, that way you could make them to match the particular color you need.

the girls on buying them. But as I was reading all the posts here, I thought of alcohol inks. Those colors aren't pastel, but could be cute. And quicker than the heat embossing!
