are hitting the road! i'm headed out to pick up my cute mom then going to the airport (who booked this early flight?). we get into chicago around 1pm, then head to our friends in crown point, in. of course, i'll be checking in along the way.

well. our flight was safe and the drive from chicago to our friends was fine. but the trip to the airport this morning was horrible. we were about 10 minutes from the airport and the truck two cars in front of us had an unsecured ladder. it flipped out of his truck and landed right in front of me. i had cars on each side of me, so i had no other thing to do except run smack in to it. i hit the brakes and hit it going about 55mph. thank goodness i hit it with the front of my bumper and didn't run over the top of it. i think if that would have happened, i wouldn't be here to tell about it. luckily the girl behind me didn't smack into the back of us. it scared the living daylights out of us. it jacked up my bumper pretty good, but that's about it. pretty lucky, all things considered.
