How are chalk in pads used?

I use it the same as I do the dye inks. It's just a much softer look. Also, if you get the little petal-type in the Chalk Box, they are great for edging your images. HTH.

The same ways as regular ink, only they leave a chalk like appearance when they dry. :)

I have a couple that I use. Sometimes I blast them with the heating gun to "set" them so the chalky finish won't rub off. They are kinda dry so they wouldn't be good for embossing powders but work well for inking edged. And like Barb said, they give a softer edge so if you want a real crisp detail you should probably use something else. Here's a card I did with a chalk inkpad:

they look super when you use them with stamped images that have no detailing.
( think of the hero arts or penny black smooshed pressed looking flowers ~ the ones with no outlines?)

That's what i use mine for anyways. and edging things.

i use mine to ink edges. gives a softer look, i think.
