The doctor called today :(

I talked with the head & neck surgeon today. The good news yesterday was really just incomplete information. There are no abnormalities in the submandibular gland, but there is a lymph node behind it that is a problem. I am having a fine needle biopsy & pre-op on Monday. I am scheduled for surgery on April 25th. He is going to discuss the surgery more with me on monday, but it is deep in the neck near some major stuff. I'm sure it will all work out, but am feeling pretty down today. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts & prayers. Looks like they are needed after all.

Man! This is why the technicians and other non-physician people shouldn't impart important information! Nothing against the other professionals, but the doctor really should be the one to "talk!"

Thanks everyone! I'm hanging in there. I went to work out after I posted and we just told Kyle. I am still in shock I think. We're not loving this crazy rollercoaster ride much(great analogy, Jan!). I think the best thing for now is to just try to keep things rolling along and keep working out so I'm strong going into the surgery. We are leaving in the morning for a quick overnight down to San Diego. It will be good to get away. My mom will go with me on Monday morning for the biopsy and pre-op. Thanks for all of your support...it means so much to me.

It sounds like the doctors are being really good about keeping you informed and trying to schedule things right away so you can get this taken care of as soon as possible. Keep exercising. It will help you feel better.
