is anything out there can "seal" the chalk once its on the card so it doesn't smear ....
I am doing a few Christmas cards with chalk and I don't want them to smear after I get them done. Can I spray with them anything?

I've used a stinky spray called Workable Fixative or I've used hairspray.

I thought I heard hairspray did something but i wasn't sure... I know I have some of that somewhere around here ...

Hairspray is what I've used too. Be sure to use the aerosol can hairspray, otherwise you might have a mess!
At Hobby Lobby they have a fixative for pastels, it will work with chalk too. It is in the aisle with the color pencils and markers at my store. I forget the name of the stuff but it comes in a white can.
proper fixative from an art supplier is better. hairspray is good for pencil work but can really alter the colour of the chalks and dull them.
I used the workable fixative for my glimmer mist cards since it was only mica powder mixed with water. It's by Krylon and you should be able to find it pretty much anywhere. And yes it does stink, use it outside.

I am so glad you posted this question, Sherri. I was using chalks on Christmas cards late last night and was wondering the same thing....thanks everyone.
